What you'll do:
As a Senior Tax Manager based in Singapore, you will be entrusted with significant responsibility in managing all facets of local corporate income tax compliance while also contributing to broader global initiatives. Your day-to-day activities will involve close partnership with finance teams to oversee direct and indirect taxes, provide actionable insights through data analysis, respond thoughtfully to regulatory queries, and keep abreast of evolving legislation. You will be instrumental in shaping internal processes by monitoring trends in assessments and payments, ensuring that all business transactions adhere strictly to policy frameworks. Additionally, your involvement in cross-border projects will allow you to expand your expertise beyond local boundaries while maintaining strong relationships with external advisors. - Oversee the completion of Singapore corporate income tax returns by preparing, analysing, and ensuring full compliance with local regulations.
- Collaborate with the Local Finance team to manage global direct and indirect taxes (including VAT/GST) and other filings to minimise potential controversies.
- Provide detailed analysis on tax data such as effective tax rate (ETR), delivering insights and improvement plans to management for informed decision-making.
- Work alongside the Finance Team to complete interim and annual group reporting requirements efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare or review responses to Singapore tax enquiries from both internal stakeholders and external parties, ensuring clarity and compliance.
- Monitor developments in Singapore tax regulations, assessing their impact on the group and communicating relevant updates to key stakeholders.
- Track tax assessments and payment trends, identifying areas for process improvement and risk mitigation.
- Offer constructive feedback on business transactions to ensure alignment with company policies and prevailing tax laws.
- Maintain robust internal controls for global tax compliance, safeguarding the organisation against risks.
- Participate in global or cross-border tax projects, managing relationships with external advisors while reviewing deliverables and budgets.
What you bring:
To excel as a Senior Tax Manager, you will bring an impressive track record of hands-on experience managing Singaporean corporate income taxes within both Big 4 environments and large multinational organisations. In addition to your technical strengths, your interpersonal skills will enable you to work seamlessly across teams from different cultural backgrounds. Familiarity with wholesale, sourcing or logistics industries would further enhance your suitability for this role.
- A degree in accounting, finance or taxation
- At least 10 years of comprehensive experience in Singapore and SEA tax compliance gained within Big 4 firms or multinational corporations is required.
- CPA qualification is mandatory along with at least one year’s experience as a manager within a Big 4 environment.
- Demonstrated excellence in Singapore tax law and accounting principles as well as practical knowledge of HFM tax reporting systems.
- Proven ability to handle complex Singaporean tax controversy cases effectively.
- Familiarity with corporate income tax, VAT/GST regimes in other jurisdictions would be advantageous but not essential.
- Exceptional analytical abilities combined with strong problem-solving skills are necessary for success in this position.
- Outstanding reporting and presentation skills are required to communicate complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience working collaboratively across functions with individuals from varied backgrounds is highly valued.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
