A leading global payments and fintech organisation is seeking a Head of Risk to join its rapidly expanding Singapore office. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to shape the future of risk management in a high-growth environment, working at the heart of APAC’s financial innovation.
As the Head of Risk, you will play a pivotal role in developing and embedding robust risk and control frameworks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of risk awareness across all business units.
What you'll do:
As Head of Risk, you will be entrusted with shaping the entire risk landscape for the Singapore office while collaborating closely with global teams.
- Designing robust frameworks that address regulatory expectations across operational, technology, financial crime, and fraud domains.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership—translating complex risks into actionable plans—and serve as the main liaison with regulatory authorities.
- By overseeing critical processes such as transaction monitoring, incident management, liquidity oversight, and safeguarding measures, you will ensure that every aspect of the business operates within a secure control environment.
- Your ability to build relationships across departments will be essential as you drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture where everyone understands their role in managing risk effectively.
What you bring:
To excel as Head of Risk in this organisation’s Singapore office, your background should reflect substantial experience navigating complex regulatory environments within payments or financial services.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Business Administration, Law or similar discipline is required for this position.
- At least seven years’ experience in risk management or related fields such as regulation, audit, compliance oversight or technology control within payments, fintech or banking sectors is essential.
- Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), PRM (Professional Risk Manager), CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist), or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) are considered beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of Singapore’s regulatory environment including MAS Payment Services Act (PSA), MAS Notices (such as AML/CFT), safeguarding requirements and TRM Guidelines is necessary.
- Proven track record managing operational risks—including transaction processing—as well as technology/cybersecurity risks within financial institutions is highly valued.
- Experience engaging directly with regulators such as MAS and presenting to senior stakeholders including Boards is advantageous for this role.
- Demonstrated ability to develop cooperative working relationships across diverse teams while proactively addressing conflicts constructively is important.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed to present complex information clearly to various audiences including non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to identify root causes during operational incidents through deep-dive analysis while recommending practical solutions for remediation is expected.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive team environment where knowledge sharing supports collective success is highly regarded.
